Being a theatre instructor reaches beyond an office or classroom door. A sense of community, personal development, and pride are core values mNemosyne Studios hopes to instill in our students. Being a theatre instructor reaches beyond an office or classroom door. A sense of community, personal development, and pride are core values mNemosyne Studios hopes to instill in our students. Over the years, owner, Rikki Jo Hickey, has learned eight keys to keeping students and instructors on the same proud track of personal and community awareness through education. These keys are:
- Understanding of self and world: A transformative power.
- Taking initiative and finding joy in education.
- Integrating acquired knowledge into daily life.
- Maturing as an individual.
- Exploring beyond the textbook.
- Mutual respect and communication.
- Variety: education activities, grading and assessment methods, teaching theories.
- Continued improvement as an instructor.
Communication is a major component for each of the eight keys. Through discussions, observations and critiques it is possible to collaboratively attain higher goals and generate a pleasant atmosphere that promotes responsibility and pride in our learning community.
About mNemosyne Studios
Rikki Jo Hickey
Rikki Jo Hickey is the owner and instructor at mNemosyne Studios in La Grande. She has been participating in and studying theatre since she was five years old, holds her MFA in Theatre Direction from UH Manoa, and is fascinated by water and shadow puppetry. She has been teaching theatrical classes, workshops, and summer camps for 20+ years, and is excited to work with all age groups and skill levels. Learn more about Rikki here.
Beyond Acting
mNemosyne Studios aims to bring a variety of courses to the Grande Ronde Valley, making them accessible to the general public with fair pricing, individualized attention, and historical context/background. The purpose of classes at mNemosyne Studios is to open the doors for new performers and refine skills of more experienced performers.
Ensemble Work
At mNemosyne Studios, we believe that working as an ensemble will generate the best results in any given production. This puts teamwork and collaboration at the center of all instruction and rehearsals, and the focus on ensemble work develops strength for autonomy, speaking up, and approaching new ideas from an objective stand point.
